My best side

Pat Black – writer, raconteur, fluffy little… thing. This is his world.

  3. Well come on, fluffy little thing! TALK!

  4. Oh fluffy little thing, where is thy sting?

  5. I hate political correctness but when you put it like this…. unbelievable that people can turn against other people on the basis of the colour of their skin or the way they like to have sex or the way they envisage ‘god’. Scary as hell…

  6. ‘lo Pat. Lovely essay – but I’m afraid I see too big a distinction between your cautionary tale and a good Pat & Mike joke.

    • Hey Pete, nice to see you. I too think there’s a massive difference between a Pat n’ Mick joke and the person – a real guy, by Christ! Alive and well and walking around, so far as we know! – in the blog. All depends on the audience, I guess – if there’s one Irish person on the floor, for example, and then everyone else starts telling Pat and Mick jokes, then we’re in murkier waters. No-one wants to be told what they can and can’t say, but we must always be sensitive to others. Some people aren’t – and worse, some people are downright prejudiced.

What prompted me to write this was the fact that the fire scenario is probably something I’d write in a short story – it’s when reality and my level of absurdity clashes that I get spooked! I still have trouble believing that this event actually happened, but according to the bodies involved in the report, it’s the truth.
